Long Form Jokes and Compound Jokes

Now that you’re familiar with jokes and a basic understanding of components and get into the habit of writing daily jokes, this is the course to show you what components can do. Long Form and Compound jokes are how you transition from joke-to-joke style comedy and develop your material.

Long Form Jokes are where you can take a comic idea and push the laugh seam to hilarity. They’re also what sketches are, so if you can do a long form joke you can write sketches. Which means you’ll have to understand a little more about set-ups and punchlines.

Compound Jokes are even more sophisticated which is why they’re the foundation for sit-coms. With compound jokes, you’ll need even greater control over your joke muscles. Compound jokes are where you begin to write with purpose. It’s no longer about the funniest idea, it’s about making anything funny and it’s the stepping stone to Routines.
